OCD Treatment
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) involves two core components: obsessions and compulsions. An obsession is an intrusive, unwanted thought, image, or urge that creates significant anxiety and discomfort. A compulsion is an overt or covert behavior done in an attempt to reduce that discomfort temporarily.
OCD affects approximately 1-2% of the population and has its own distinct category in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5).
It is not a quirk. It is not a personality trait. And it is certainly not a life sentence.
The cycle is exhausting but it is also treatable, and none of it means you're broken.
